Victory!

You can't seem them, but they're there lurking in the corners. Vertical blinds...I shiver thinking about them. Control your jealousy, I know you love the former owner's stuff in this before picture too. They were going for a "I have a house in the Hamptons, but I'm trapped in 1985 Florida." Trust me, this was better than the Victorian nightmare or the crazy eBay collector with forest green carpet. So, it took a year, but I won the living room battle! Fabric samples are on their way and I'll be ordering drapes asap. Stay tuned for the after shot. And yes, my husband has been quoted saying that he likes vertical blinds. I didn't marry him for his decorating taste.

One Year Anniversary

...of owning our house in Westhampton. Still so much to do, but we're so thankful for our place to escape on the weekends. Off to the beach shortly, it's a hot one out here.

Enjoy Memorial Day, and keep all of the men and women who have served and ARE serving in your thoughts and prayers.

Gorgeous Day!

I drove to WH last night with Vella as my co-pilot. Shhhh...don't tell Matt, I let her sleep with me (she's not allowed on the beds, but we agreed to keep it our secret).

It's gorgeous here today, one of those days that makes you thankful for having such a beautiful place to go at the end of the week. Vella and I walked by the elementary school around 8 this morning and and went to Goldberg's for bagels...you could tell that everyone had a spring in their step today and was in a good mood.

Mom and Dad are on the road from VA and should be here around 2 or 3. Matt's on the good 'ole LIRR this evening. It's going to be a great weekend of golf for the guys, shopping for the ladies, walks on the beach and cooking out.

On the menu tonight is Sangria Pork Roast, Manchego and Mushroom Rice, fresh steamed green beans. Tomorrow, we're grilling steaks and we'll hit the farm stand for corn and tomatoes.

I love Summer.

One Year Ago

NYU Stern Graduation and a week in the Turks & Caicos. May 2008 was good to me!

Let's be Clear...

1. I do not have children. If you see pics of me with an adorable 3 1/2 year-old and a sassy 11-month old, I'm spoiling the best nephew and niece in the world. The hubby and I ADORE children, but have not reproduced. Don't ask when/if we will go down that road. This will prompt a rolling of the eyes and an equally rude response to what is a very rude question.

2. My dog is NOT a puggle. I have nothing against puggles, but she doesn't even closely resemble one. Vella is a true Heinz 57. If I had a dollar for every person who stopped on the streets of NYC to ask if Vella was a puggle, I'd be a rich lady.

3. My dog is NOT a boy. People...what don't you get about the pink sailboats on her leash?!?

Happy Wednesday.

Curb Appeal

New landscaping goes in tomorrow! This is our 2009 "project" and I'm glad we're starting on the outside and working our way inside. I can't wait to see the hydrangeas and butterfly bushes, two of my favorites.

Stay tuned for before and after pics!

Checking Things off the List!

Guest bedroom #2 shades are ordered! Inspiration pics above. I got these. Thanks for the tip Mom, I would have never looked there! It only took me a year to order them. Now, fingers crossed they arrive before the weekend so we can install them and check one more thing off the list.
