Week in Westhampton

These pictures sum up our week in WH! We were at the beach every day and Vella was SO happy to have us all to herself for the week. We did venture out for dinner in East Hampton...Turtle Crossing and Nick & Tonis. Otherwise, just lots of R&R. We're counting down to Labor Day weekend now. I can't believe how cool it is in the Northeast!

Rainy Saturday in Need of Color!

Purchased this morning so I can make a little something to go with the VERY boring black dress that I'll be wearing to a black tie wedding next Saturday. These are pink coin pearls and mixed carnelian. Pics of the final product later this week! I'm also working on three custom orders for a friend...so much fun.

Danny

I guess we'll be having an "inside" weekend on Eastern LI! Now, how do I take my dog out during a Tropical Storm?

We came back to NYC on Sunday night and we're getting settled back in to work, gym etc. I'll write more tonight. We had a great week in WH.

Weekend Recap

This was our first weekend in NYC in six months! We're having a major heatwave in the NE, so it was perfect ;-) We picked up our NYC Half Marathon packs on Saturday morning and headed to brunch at Fetch. Vella needed a new collar and leash, so a stop at Canine Styles fixed that (pink and navy madras, too cute) and we also made a quick $100 stop at Petco for some new toys. She promptly destroyed two of them in like two minutes flat. Nice work Vella, you owe me $25!

We were up bright and early on Sunday morning to line up for the NYC Half Marathon! There were about 15K runners this year. The hubby finished in 1:56 and I crossed the finish line at 2:20 flat. I'm really proud of both of us. It was a tough race...almost 90 degrees by the time we finished and the humidity was brutal. Needless to say, we're a little sore today.

We're in WH this week for vacation and looking forward to some R&R.

Show Us Your Favorite Vacation Spot

It's Friday on Kelly's blog. This week, favorite vacation spots are on the agenda!

It's no secret that our honeymoon holds a special place in my heart, but the Pacific Coast of Mexico is another favorite for a variety of reasons (one of them being the FOOD...there's nothing in this world like Oaxaca cheese!). We took our first vacation together in 2002, spending a week in Huatulco (stay at the Barcelo or Quinta Real). In 2005, we went to Acapulco and Matt popped the question (the Fairmont property is great). And in 2007, we spent my B-school Spring Break in Ixtapa (Las Brisas is so-so, I'd opt for the La Casa Que Canta in Zihuatanejo if we went back). Finally, we traveled back to Acapulco with friends for some 2007/2008 New Year's R&R.
Next on our list, Punta Mita! Maybe later this year?

Less than 72 Hours to Go!

NYC 1/2 Marathon is Sunday morning! Wish us luck. I went to the gym at 5:30am this morning to get my last workout in before the mandatory 48-hour resting period.

Forecast is suspect...mid-80's and high humidity.

We're off to WH for the week after we finish the race on Sunday (with a brunch stop along the way to see Hart, Adrienne and baby Dax!). I'm looking forward to a break and I'm crossing my fingers that the husband doesn't have to work (too) much.

Weekend recap and posts from the beach to come! Stay tuned.

John Hughes

What would Saturdays and Sundays be on TBS and USA without John Hughes movies? Where would we be without Mr. Mom, Molly Ringwald and the National Lampoon's movies?!? And let's not forget Ferris...brilliant.

What's your favorite?

Our Honeymoon in The Knot!

I couldn't fit these in the last post, so here you go! I was going to wait and post these around our anniversary in September, but why wait!?! At the time of planning, I had a profile on theknot.com. One of the editors saw a few pictures, contacted us in March of 2007, and the next thing we knew we were in the magazine. It's a fun memento. I still need to print and frame the layout. Oh, and order wedding pictures and an album. It's on the list for this Fall!

Etsy Purchases

I just purchased these on Etsy. The store is too cute, it's coco + milkweed. I'm a little behind on baby gifts for all of the Spring/early Summer babies. I can't wait to wrap these and get them out the door!

Show us Your Life - Wedding Reception & Honeymoon

It's Friday over at Kelly's Korner and today is all about Wedding Receptions and Honeymoons! Our ceremony and reception were at Tribeca Rooftop. One of the best parts of the "party," as my Mother-in-Law calls it, was our band, Current Affair. They played everything from Rob Base to Frank Sinatra and the dance floor was packed until midnight. I wish I had more pictures, but everything was on film.

But I can show you about a million pictures from our honeymoon! We spent 7 days in Dubai and 8 days in the Maldives. It was the trip of a lifetime and we were even featured in The Knot magazine about a year after the trip.

Busy Weekend!

We had such a fun weekend with friends in NC. I've known Christina for 13 years and I couldn't be more thrilled for her as she starts her life with Mark. The smiles on their faces said it all!

We snuck in BBQ at Macs and lunch at Chic-fil-A (there's only one in NYC and it's in the NYU food court). Did I mention that Blue Eyed Bride was there? It was so nice to chat with her. She's great and if you follow her blog, you already know that. She's a talented writer and very honest. You have to love that!
And, Vella was a superstar during her stay at Camp Krasny (aka Erica and Drew's apartment). A huge sigh of relief for me! Maybe we'll actually take a vacation in the next year :-)

Remember THAT girl?!?

Every class had one...she was just a bully and an all around bad seed. I just met her on the street and her evil little black pug! I took Vella out for her after-dinner walk and there was a black pug tearing down the sidewalk (side note: who lets a dog off of a leash in NYC?). Vella immediately stopped in her tracks and sat down. This is her way of coping with rowdy dogs since she's still a baby. The pug was jumping all over us, so I politely asked the owner to call her dog so we could continue down the block. She started YELLING at me, telling me that her dog wouldn't do anything and to mind my own business. I held my tongue, picked up Vella and started walking. So what did she do? She kept YELLING at me as I walked down the sidewalk, saying how embarrassed I should be to have to pick up my dog and walk away (there was an obscenity in there that I won' repeat and let's just say the accent was NJ or SI). Um, I should be embarrassed? Now, I've lived in NYC for nine years and after you're here for a few weeks, or maybe hours, you quickly realize that this can be a cruel city. It's times like this that I 1. Want to call my parents and thank them for raising me to always treat people with respect and 2. Want to run and move back down South!

Next time I see her, I'm reporting her for having her evil dog off leash on the UES! Crazy girl.
